About Rising Star Athletics

Meet the Coach!

Hello, my name is David Milz and I will be your Rising Star Athletics Coach.  My wife Carrie and I are raising four little boys ages 0, 2, 4, and 6 - with my full-time job being a stay-at-home Dad.  We are a very active family in the Oconomowoc area that values family time and physical activity.  I love my full-time job raising these amazing kids, but also wanted to incorporate my other passion in life with others outside of my own family - teaching.

I have a degree from UW-Whitewater in K-12 physical education with a minor in coaching and adaptive physical education.  I was a pre-school to 8th grade PE and health teacher in the Trevor-Wilmot school district for 5 years before moving to Oconomowoc 4 years ago to raise our family and take on fulltime Dad duty.  During my time at Trevor, I coached 5th - 8th grade basketball, softball, volleyball, track, and started a running club.  I was a varsity assistant basketball coach at Union Grove High School and have 16 years of experience of sports camp counseling.  As you can see, my passion in life is coaching and working with students.  Having put my own children through just about every sports activity Oconomowoc has to offer, my wife and I saw an opportunity to put my experience and enthusiasm working with kids to the test and start a new venture!

About Rising Star Athletics

Rising Star Athletics was created to provide quality instruction for little athletes to ensure their first time experience with sports and fitness is a positive one.  We create an environment where kids feel comfortable, safe, and encouraged while participating in sports activities to ignite enthusiasm for fitness that will stay with them for a lifetime!

Within our classes you can expect fundamental skill development through a variety of fun and engaging activities.  Equipment used will be age and developmentally appropriate along with the class activities.  Too many detailed rules and being involved in scrimmages too early can be overwhelming and generate a negative experience for young children and could discourage their future participation.  The more children enjoy the games, the more it leads to greater confidence, which in-turn leads to self-initiated participation and independent play.

Future Plans

In the future we envision expanding Rising Star Athletics with more days, classes, and coaches.
